Hi, my name is Qiansheng (Max) Zhan, and I am from Shenzhen, China. Prior to joining the Tang Lab, I conducted research in Dr. Anthony Leung’s lab at Johns Hopkins University, where I studied how poly(ADP-ribose) (PAR), a transient molecule produced in response to cellular stress, recruits the protein FUS to PARP1-mediated DNA damage repair sites and promotes the formation of biomolecular condensates. My previous research experience motivated me to further explore the mechanisms of DNA damage and repair using a variety of biochemical and genomic approaches in the Tang Lab. Outside the lab, I enjoy playing soccer competitively and watching soccer in my free time. I also have a cat named Blackie.
